Jonathan Hayes

Intentional - Patient - Organized

For Jonathan, there is nothing more true than music. Music is a sonic reality you can return to amidst the uncertainties of the human experience.

Through teaching, he tries to tap into the unique rhythms and inclinations of his students through active listening, improvisation, and inquiry. You can expect gentle encouragement to explore your naturally occurring rhythms and melodies. Jonathan believes that when you create a container to properly explore, the student will often teach themselves beyond their own expectations.

He is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and recently released his 4th studio EP, Idio-sync-racy. Jonathan is perpetually informed by the improvisational movement of The Grateful Dead, and is inspired by artists from Bob Dylan, to Amy Winehouse, to Robert Johnson and many more.

He was raised in folk music and performed from a young age at a variety of venues; including The Red Corner Benefit, The Inn at St Peter’s, Chaplin’s Spring City, 118 North in Wayne, Steel City Coffee House, Trouble’s End Brewing, The Morgantown Carnival, Brandywine Branch Distillery, Hidden River Brewery, The 4th Street Cafe, birthday parties, weddings, and other private events.

When not writing and recording, Jonathan can be found working in nature, snacking on anything he can get his hands on, seeking the thrill of live music, or conversing with the nearest dog.

Jonathan is currently accepting new students at the Carriage House studio.
